SOCIAL NOTES

Thanks to everyone who is helping with the July 4th Barbecue! It is always a fun event—and a special thanks to Ellen Giunta, who has been Social Chair for 5 years, and has worked creatively and tirelessly to make each of our gatherings special.

In answer to some questions from members about the guest fee, Ellen and the Board want you to know that the $30 fee did not even cover the actual costs. Catering costs rise just as quickly at the same rate as our own groceries and gas, and we all know what that has been.

Save August 2nd: the social committee has set that date aside for an informal gathering at the clubhouse. Details and rsvp form to follow. Everyone who attended last year had a great time.

MEMBERSHIP

Several new members have inquired about junior tennis and golf programs. The Board of Directors is excited about the possibility of adding these to our schedule if there is enough interest. If you have children and are interested, please let us know. Just email Peggie Telscher with your information.

We are delighted that (Dr.) David McKenna has agreed to chair the Nominating Committee which will present a slate to replace 3 Board of Directors whose terms have expired. An active and healthy club needs the participation of all members, so please consider becoming a Director. Just contact David for information about the time requirements and other aspects of Board service. And note also that our committees do the work that keep the club activities running smoothly. Volunteer………..it doesn’t take much effort; it’s fun; it makes for a vibrant club.

The Survey Committee, chaired byTony Defrancesco is delighted to announce that 91 responses were received. This is over 50% of our membership, which means, according to our marketing mavens, that the results are statistically accurate and meaningful. The committee has been meeting weekly to analyze the results, and will have a report for the Board by the end of the month, and to members shortly after.
